The Brief
A global D2C skincare brand approached Reelkraft Media in Q1 2026. They had a respectable product, a loyal customer base, and an Instagram account with 50,000 followers that had flatlined for 8 months.
Their problem was visible in the data: 4-5 posts per month, an engagement rate below 1%, and Reels averaging 12,000 views. Their marketing team was spending hours on content that reached almost nobody.
The request was direct: "Fix our Instagram. We want growth that turns into revenue."

The Problem With Their Existing Approach
Before building a new strategy, we audited everything: content format, posting frequency, hook quality, caption structure, audio strategy, and historical analytics.
Key findings:
- Their Reels started with a branded intro animation (3-5 seconds wasted before any hook)
- Posting cadence was inconsistent — gaps of 2-3 weeks between videos
- Content was product-focused (showing the product) rather than audience-focused (solving a problem)
- Zero trending audio used — their original music wasn't driving any discovery
- Captions were long paragraphs with no structure (nobody reads them)
These were not creative problems. They were structural problems that no amount of "better content ideas" would fix without addressing the foundation.
The Strategy
1. Content Pillar Restructure
We replaced their single product-promotion approach with 3 content pillars:
- Education (40%): Ingredient breakdowns, skincare science, "why does [product] work?" — positions brand as an authority
- Social Proof (30%): Before/after transformations, customer reactions, UGC reposts — builds trust through real results
- Entertainment (30%): Trend participation, humor in skincare, relatable moments — builds community and drives shares
2. Hook Library
We built a library of 20 hooks tailored specifically to skincare audience psychology. The best-performing category: social proof hooks.
Top-performing hook of the 90-day campaign:
"My skin was breaking out for 3 years. My dermatologist finally told me the real reason:"
This video hit 1.2M views. The product was mentioned in the final 10 seconds.
3. Production System
We established a batch production workflow:
- 30 Reels scripted, filmed, and edited per month
- 48-hour delivery from raw footage to final file
- All files organized in a shared Google Drive folder with a scheduling grid
The Results: 90 Days
| Metric | Start | Day 90 | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly Reel Views | 280,000 | 2,500,000 | +793% |
| Followers | 50,000 | 450,000 | +400K |
| Engagement Rate | 0.8% | 4.2% | +425% |
| Link-in-Bio CTR | 0.4% | 15% | +3,650% |
The revenue impact was significant — the brand attributed a 27% increase in direct-to-consumer revenue to the Instagram traffic increase during the campaign period.
What Made the Difference
- System over inspiration. We produced 30 Reels per month using a repeatable workflow — not waiting for inspiration.
- Audience-first content. Every Reel started with a problem or question the skincare audience was already searching for.
- Hook testing. We tested 3 different hooks per content pillar in Month 1. By Month 2, we knew exactly what format drove watch-time and shares.
- Consistent posting. 5-7 Reels per week, like clockwork, told the algorithm that this account was worth distributing.
